Kristine Gallagher

Kristine Gallagher, M.Ed., LPC

I believe that the antidote to distress and maladaptive coping is through connection—both within ourselves and with others. Which is why having a strong bond with your therapist is such an integral part of personal and relational growth.

As your therapist, my goal is to provide you with a safe and supportive space where you feel comfortable showing up as your authentic self, exactly where you are—even if you’re not quite sure who or where that is yet. Together, we can explore what really matters to you, define your goals and develop the clarity and skills needed to convert insight into meaningful action.

I operate from the lens of “progress over perfection” and utilize a strengths-based approach, tailoring my style to the uniqueness of each client. It’s important to me that the therapeutic process feels collaborative, wherein we are aligned on our goals and how progress is measured. I welcome clients to come as they are, including those that are new to therapy and/or ambivalent about change.  I work with clients individually, but encourage loved ones to partake in support sessions, and when appropriate, collaborate care with other healthcare providers.

My specialties and areas of interest include eating disorders and disordered eating patterns, body image, anxiety, life transitions, identity exploration and development, relational issues and perinatal concerns.  I am an affirming and non-diet centered clinician who welcomes diversity of body sizes, abilities, races, sexualities, genders, religions and political values.

After living abroad in Spain for more than 8 years, followed by several (too hot) years in Austin, Texas, I am excited to return to my midwestern roots here in Wisconsin. In my free time I enjoy reading, traveling, cooking, and spending time with my family which includes my husband, two young daughters and three mischievous Birman cats. And when the stars occasionally align—napping.

*I am accepting new virtual clients!
